via Mashable Comment Cashmore Foils The iPad Magazine App
When I first witnessed Wired magazine’s tablet app at SXSW this past March, I was thoroughly impressed. I wholeheartedly believed that they had successfully bridged the gap between analog and digital, causing me to finally catch the ‘iPad anticipation itch’. The app was gorgeous and fluid, chock full of image galleries, beautiful layouts, video, animation, and a seamless navigation system. It appeared, at first glance, to be the ultimate interactive magazine. Cut to four months later; the iPad has been released, selling over 3 million units worldwide, and users have been able to test out these magazine apps for themselves. Apple unveiled the super thin iPhone 4 at the WWDC (worldwide developers conference) today. Steve Jobs (one of my favourite people, next to Oprah) announced some of the new features to be included in the release of iPhone’s OS4. OS4 got me pretty excited upon first reading, that was until I realized a lot of these great new developments were already included in the BlackBerry, not exactly revolutionary. Nonetheless, I look forward to upgrading my iPhone’s OS this summer (iPad users can look to update their OS this fall). Top Five iPhone OS4 Features (that were a long time coming) 1. Multitasking This has been on the iPhone fan-boy wishlist forever. Finally, you’ll be able to run background tasks, or multiple applications, at the same time.
