What happens when you mix a Sergeant in the US Military, with the Toronto Pride Parade, on the 4th July, in a condo located in the Gay Village? You get the makings for one amazing hybrid party, friends! Since Toronto’s Pride Parade happen to fall on the 4th of July, and since everyone’s favourite Texan – happened to be staying at Christine’s condo (located at Yonge and Charles) we couldn’t resist having a Happy Independence / Pride Day party. Of course, not wanting to pass up the opportunity to create some snacks for such an awesomely themed party, I whipped up a few treats perfectly suited for the celebration. So in a Dana Learn’s To Cook extravaganza I present: Rainbow Lemon Cupcakes, Red White and Blue Almond Sugar Cookies (with Lemon Glaze), and of course, Gay Pirate Balls Comment Meatball-er
In almost a year of ‘Dana Learns To Cook‘ blogging, I’ve written very few posts about my favourite food: pasta. Granted, I did blog about the Chicken Picatta recently, and earlier in the year, I shared a Michael Douchebag-Smith recipe for sweet potato gnocchi. Being away from my drawer of cook books (it’s amazing how many I’ve accumulated since beginning my blog – and many thanks to all those who purchased a book for me) I took to the internet. I have a few favourite food blogs, but my top pick has to be Hungry Girl. I am particularly fond of their ‘food swap’ ideas, wherein they offer you healthy solutions for every day cravings. It’s on Hungry Girl where I found a totally tasty Chicken Fajita Bowl. continue reading… 2 Comments Sweet Potato Gnocchi
A couple of months ago, in the midst of my forty-year-old-woman obsession with the Food Network, I came across a recipe for sweet potato gnocchi. However, the recipe was by Chef Michael Smith, my least favourite of the Food Network stars. I was tempted to make the pasta, but put it off, weary of following something by a man I can only describe as ‘douchebaggy’. It wasn’t until I took it upon myself one evening to make Spaetzle, that I reconsidered my initial trepidation. Comment |
