Recently, I was asked to house sit for a couple of weeks while a couple I know travels through Poland. The set up was a pretty sweet deal – I would be within walking distance from work, be able to use their barbecue, have access to their bikes – and my biggest responsibility was taking care of their cat Bajka. Sweet. Deal. The first few days of my house sitting gig went smoothly. And last Thursday evening started out pretty normal – I went about my routine – letting the cat outside and proceeding to ‘chill’. An hour or so into the evening I began hearing reports of severe thunderstorm warnings – even rumors of a tornado headed towards Toronto. I opened the front door to let Bajka in, but instead, she just stared at me from the lawn. Winds were picking up and the sky was darkening, so I took a step out on the porch to encourage her inside.
