Redress Remix
Produced by Stitch Media for OMNI TV and supported by CHRP, OMNI, Bell Broadcast & New Media Fund Redress Remix is a unique project comprised of a 3 part documentary series and interactive living documentary. Redress Remix tackles one of the most controversial Canadian government decisions of our time: the official 2006 apology to the Chinese Canadian community for the Head Tax and Exclusion Act of 1923.
The documentary film uses a unique approach that includes animation techniques, newly composed music and testimonial interviews, to reveal to audiences the events that shaped the Redress movement and led to the official Government apology and its influence on a new generation of Chinese Canadians.
The interactive web project, developed in conjunction with the film, allows Canadians to contribute to the national dialogue on the issue through a ground-breaking ‘living documentary’ experience. As a member of the interactive production team I took on several responsibilities during the development and production of Redress Remix. Most notably I was the project manager for the interactive component, a role which earned me a promotion at Stitch Media. Throughout the project I also developed the 180º stop motion shooting method with photographer May Truong (as seen in the interactive portraits), assisted on the cross-Canada film shoot (traveling to Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Halifax), and helped develop the front end user experience for the interactive. I was also responsible for the planning and execution of private screenings in Vancouver and Toronto. The documentary is produced by Victoria Ha for Stitch Media and Executive produced by David Smith of S & S Productions with support from OMNI Television and the participation of CHRP Canada. The interactive site is produced by Evan Jones for Stitch Media Inc. in association with the Bell New Media Fund and OMNI’s Independent Producers Initiative. Comment Stitch Media Sizzle Reel

Produced by Stitch Media for Heartstring Productions The Anniversary Project explores the lives of 20 different Canadian children living below the poverty line. Nance Ackerman, who previously collaborated with Stitch Media as a writer for Redress Remix, is the director of this amazing project. Her NFB-produced film Four Feet Up offers an intimate portrait of a child and his family’s struggle with poverty and serves as the inspiration for The Anniversary Project. Both the film and The Anniversary Project launched on the 20 year anniversary of the Canadian government’s promise to end child poverty. Combining stunning photography, powerful music, and stop motion portraits, The Anniversary Project beautifuly explores the lives of 20 children, allowing their voices to be heard as they share their experiences with poverty. The multifaceted project also provides resourcesfor those facing similar struggles or who wish to help. As both designer and developer I designed and built the website in collaboration with the project’s director Nance Ackerman. Comments are disabled Stitch Media Promo-Book
